LETTER: GOP needs to stick together
The Middle East is in flames; Putin is saber-rattling in the Baltics; The U.S. has a huge debt. People are struggling to feed their families; the Republican presidential field is the best in years. And what are Republicans doing? At the local, state and federal level we’re fighting each other!
I’ve been an active Republican for more than 60 years, beginning as a poll watcher in the 1952 Eisenhower-Nixon election. I’ve never thought of myself as a liberal, moderate, conservative or establishment Republican, just a Republican.
I was and am a firm believer in limited government, a strong defense, support for widows, orphans and disabled, a tax structure that encourages business expansion and new business startups — both of which result in more jobs and increased revenue. Is there a Republican of any stripe who doesn’t believe in those principles?
Let’s grow up and agree to disagree folks. —Mitzi Anderson, Whitefish
