Man tries to flee crash, arrested by officer

A man was arrested by Kalispell Police for driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a crash after he hit a vehicle near the intersection of Third Street West and Fifth Avenue West. The person who was hit called 911, as did another person who narrowly avoided being hit by the man, and an officer was able to stop and arrest him.

Officers separated a man and woman who were in a verbal argument that escalated to pushing and shoving near East Idaho Street.

A man on Second Street West had questions about how to get his ex-girlfriend to stop bothering him after she kept harassing him via telephone and text message. The man said the woman had taken the keys to his business and that he had to pay $2,000 to change the locks. After paying the bill the man said he did not have the money to file a court order for protection. The man was counseled.

A person on North Main Street walked up to an officer to complain about a person who was pulling kids on a sleigh with a vehicle.

A man was stopped for an obstructed license plate near the intersection of Third Avenue East North and Washington Street. He ended up being taken to jail for outstanding warrants and a driving under the influence of alcohol citation.

A man was cited for shoplifting after he stuffed a remote control car under his shirt and left a business on Third Avenue East.


A man described as a “vagabond” by cafe staff had walked away and could not be located by the time Whitefish Police showed up. Workers said the man did not buy anything after being in the store for two hours and that he was talking to himself.

A car hit a manhole cover on Lion Mountain Loop Road and knocked it 50 feet from its normal resting place.

A boulder rolled from one property to another on Crestwood Drive and damaged a vehicle and other unspecified property.

A woman on West Ninth Street reported that her brother had sent her and her mother threatening messages via Facebook. The woman was told to block the man.

A man on Spokane Avenue allegedly punched a truck and left a dent before he got in a truck, began yelling at three women, and hitting the truck’s window. The man was escorted home by a sober driver.


Columbia Falls Police got a report that guns were stolen from a vehicle on Nucleus Avenue.
