Racist fliers reportedly passed out

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies took a report from a woman who reported that someone had shoved what she described as white-supremacist flyers into the door of her business on Electric Avenue in Bigfork. The woman said she didn’t think she had been targeted specifically because the next-door business also received a flyer. Officers told the business owners to report any more suspicious activity.

A man in Somers called to report he believed someone was watching his property and that a vehicle had driven over his fence and knocked it down. He said there were tire tracks in the area. The responding deputy found animal tracks in the area and determined that critters and not a vehicle had likely caused the damage.

A woman was told that if her children were being harassed on their walk home from school then she should arrange an alternative form of transportation for them. The woman reported that another parent had been harassing her children. The responding officer said if problems persist an order of protection might be in order.

Someone broke a camper window at an undisclosed location, unlocked the sliding window of a truck and stole a .22 semi-automatic pistol and a pair of binoculars.


Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies responded after a person reported that someone had broken into a home on Big Bend Road, assaulted the reporting party’s son, and stole his medication.

Deputies arrested a man on outstanding warrants on City Service Road in Libby after someone reported kids were cooking on a fire that was too big for a pan in an area with lots of dry needles and grass.

A person was counseled after a 2-year-old was reported to have ingested a Lortab pill found on the floor of a home.


Columbia Falls Police provided extra patrol after a person on Ninth Avenue East North said a man in a white truck was burning his tires and driving recklessly in a parking lot. The reporting party was not willing to sign a complaint because they feared retaliation.


Whitefish Police responded to someone who said she had been threatened by a woman who had written her a bad check. The woman allegedly said she was going to call Hell’s Angels on the reporting party.

Officers advised an attorney that she needed to call Ventura County, California, so officers there could address concerns about a child who was living out of state with a family member. The attorney was working for the child’s mother and said she was worried the child might have a mental break because of recent school shootings.


Kalispell Police Department declined to assist a man who wanted help collecting a payment from a client. The man said the client had threatened him. An officer determined the issue was a civil matter that did not warrant immediate intervention.

A carpet cleaning van was stolen from Third Avenue West North. It was found the next morning in a bank parking lot in Whitefish.

A woman said she saw a Facebook post on a page called “Flathead Catch a Thief” where someone said they had just been robbed at gunpoint near the intersection of Cemetery Road and U.S. 93. The woman wrote down the information, but the post was deleted. Law enforcement were in the area at the time of the alleged incident and said they saw nothing suspicious.

Officers responded to Second Avenue East North and East Wyoming Street after someone reported two teenage boys were walking with a pair of bolt cutters and a backpack. Officers located the boys but did not find bolt cutters.

Officers counseled a caller about how to handle a situation where a student brought a gun to a West Idaho Street location and was showing it off. The student did not threaten anyone.
