Soccer: Stillwater picks up win in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. — Stillwater Christian rebounded after surrendering an early penalty kick to top Northwest Christian 2-1 in a nonconference soccer match on Friday.

BJ Bach netted a goal on a service from Darren Kauffman to tie the score at 1-1 at half. Micah Friesen came to the rescue in the second half, touching the ball two yards outside the box and rocketing a shot under the crossbar for the game-winner.

“It was an incredible game,” Cougars coach Ryan O’Rourke said. “We had a lot of fun. The guys played really well.

“It was very intense from the first whistle and got more and more intense. We kept pressuring and got that second goal.”

Stillwater outshot Northwest Christian 10-8 and Cougars goalkeeper Daniel Fetveit made seven saves.
