Columbia Falls man gets booked after claiming to be burglary victim
Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies gave a man on Columbia Meadows Drive near Columbia Falls a ride to jail on warrants after he made a call to 911 saying people were shaking his camper and trying to break in. The man was prepared to defend himself with a machete, but deputies determined the call was unfounded. The man asked deputies to increase patrols in the area since he was going to be away in jail.
Deputies responded after someone ransacked an industrial plant near Columbia Falls. The security guard called for backup at the time of the incident after he found people in the plant.
A Coram man told deputies that he wanted to shoot a big dog and little dog that he could not get out of his house. The owners were located before it escalated to that point.
A rude, belligerent man called dispatch to ask about the status of a stolen vehicle. As dispatchers were taking his information, he hung up. The man let return calls made by dispatchers go to voicemail. When the man got back on the line, he said that the believed there were warrants out for his arrest and that he did not want to give an address or have deputies show up at his door. The man told dispatchers that his name was Billy the Kid. The dispatcher believed that the man may have been drinking.
A Columbia Falls man reported that $10,000 worth of guns had been stolen from his residence while he was incarcerated.
Deputies took a report after a man got of his vehicle and yelled obscenities at a barista at a coffee stand on U.S. 93. The barista said she felt threatened.
Deputies were able to return a dog to its rightful owner on Cooperative Way after a woman called and said her daughter had left her dog with a family while she was out of town. The woman tried to reclaim her dog but the people the animal had been left with told the owner she would have to pay a $100 boarding fee to get the dog back.
A stolen Glock .45 was found on a bike path outside Kalispell.
A man on Trumble Creek Road reported suspicious activity after he posted an ad on Craigslist to sell his truck and got a response from someone who wanted to trade $1,700 worth of guns for the vehicle.
Kalispell Police responded after a caller said he believed he had spotted a person in a vehicle matching the description of a violent man who has been trying to break into houses near the intersection of North Main Street and East Idaho Street. The person believed that people had been told to shoot the man if they saw him.
A deaf boy’s smartphone was stolen from the hospital intensive care unit. His mother was concerned because the phone is used to help the child communicate.
A mother on Fourth Avenue West did not want to pursue charges after her 27-year-old son reportedly got into a strong verbal argument and threatened to kill her. He allegedly was using a drug that goes by the street name “944” and hit his mother in the head before he fled the building.
Officers responded to Rockefeller Drive and Empire Loop after getting a report that a man had pulled a gun on another man and woman, after almost running the woman over. A report was filed. No arrests were made.
A man was advised of his options after he called from Grandview Drive and said that he was out in the cold and needed assistance because he had no place to stay. He was trying to get to his sister’s house in Polson.
A manager of a business on U.S. 93 called to report that a possible handgun had been found in a parking lot. Officers collected a pellet gun.
A woman was cited for trespassing after store management at a business on U.S. 93 claimed she stole some pants but the store could not prove the alleged theft.
A person told the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office that his or her vehicle had been struck by another driver in a motor home pulling a horse trailer. The driver of the motor home examined the damage and left. Deputies tried to locate the motor home.
A woman said that someone called her house pretending to be a representative of the Internal Revenue Service. The person told the woman not to talk to anybody about the call and said that the woman’s phone was tapped. She was told that if she did not pay the person on the other end of the line within 25 minutes, then she would be immediately arrested. Dispatchers told the woman that she was the victim of a scam and to not give the person any information.
A shoe store in Libby reported that a couple came in to try on some new footwear and stole some shoes. The duo left their old shoes behind and took off in a new pair of work boots and women’s footwear.
The Whitefish Police Department advised a woman of her options after she filed for a temporary order of protection against a man who retaliated by closing their joint bank account and stopping her automatic bill pay. The man’s sister also sent the woman an email saying that her phone service would soon be discontinued.
Bank workers reported that they had found a bike on their property and did not know who it belonged to.
Columbia Falls Police recovered a stolen mountain bike that was taken while the owner ate dinner at a restaurant on Ninth Street West.
An officer responded to a disturbance on Fifth Street West where a father and daughter had gotten into a verbal disagreement. The girl barricaded herself in her room and the father talked with officers who advised the parents of options. This was the second time officers were called for a similar situation. The previous time the family took the girl’s phone as punishment.
