LETTER: Some 'fools' don't want to know truth about abortion
“Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes.” — Proverbs 26:4-5
Some people are the kind of fool with no interest in discovering the truth. They are set in their ways and no matter what information may develop, they will not hear it. A prime example of this is the Pharisees in Jesus day. Not only did they disregard Jesus’ miracles or the prophecies being fulfilled by Him. After killing Him, when presented with irrefutable evidence of God’s power in raising Him from the dead, they paid off the guards who witnessed it to lie and say His disciples stole the body!
Another example are those who fought to keep their slaves and the profit they had by them: justifying it by choosing to believe they were less than human. Even though today they can’t subject them to be their slaves, there are still those fools who put on their hoods and burn their crosses and mistreat those with different skin color. Or consider those who still uphold Nazi sentiments, believing themselves superior to others, thereby giving them the privilege of killing those who are “less” human.
In spite of these past examples, still today there is a new generation of fools who inflict horrible pain, suffering, and death to innocent victims who are powerless to stop them; all for the sake of convenience and profit. Just like tyrants of history, they justify it by insisting these people are not human. No matter what the evidence, they use coercive measures to push their agenda and convince the masses it is fine to kill their babies.
Such a fool as this should not even be answered because not only will it do no good, it will lure you into becoming aggressive and unreasonable like them. Overcoming their insistence to destroy others in various sundry ways is never accomplished by trying to help them see the error of their ways. Throughout history, it has taken great sacrifice and dedication to stop these fools: like Jesus and His disciples laying down their lives; the Wilberforces or Lincolns and brave men and women who sacrificed time, money, health, and life to end slavery; the resistance and brave soldiers who gave everything to stop Hitler and his fools who, even after being defeated and convicted for their crimes, in some cases remained scornful and adamant in their justification of their brutality.
Others are fools because of upbringing or being duped by strong influences in their culture. However, they ask questions, they wonder, they listen, they seek to find the truth, and they are willing to change. This kind of fool needs to be answered because there is every hope they will forsake foolishness and become wise. In time they may begin to see that if someone had aborted them, their life would have been ended. It doesn’t take rocket science to understand that if you wait a year, there will be a human being with a life to live that emerges from the womb. If you kill them before they leave the womb, it is the same as if you killed them when they were 1 year old or 2 years old. Like Ronald Reagan said: “I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.”
One day abortion will be history, looked back on as being just as barbaric as slavery and the Holocaust. I am so thankful for those in the forefront of fighting to bring an end to this mass murder of millions. Until the Lord returns, may we each be willing to do what we can to stop the fools from taking over our nation and the world. —Synoia Olson, Kalispell
