LETTER: Thank you to community for help in search for Rob Carter

| October 22, 2015 11:00 AM

On behalf of the Beaverhead County Search Rescue and the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office, I want to offer our extreme appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of Flathead Valley citizens in helping us find Mr. Rob Carter this past month.

It was very apparent how well liked Rob was throughout the Flathead Valley. Your overwhelming support, not only those of you who came to help search, but also all of you who sent supplies, is a great tribute to the legacy of Rob Carter. The supplies you sent to base camp were much needed by many individuals from around the state. Some came in such a haste they didn’t have a toothbrush, deodorant, or many of the other things needed for daily life. Thank you very much.

Because of the multitudes that turned out to help in this intense and prolonged search, we were able to keep it going for the number of days that we did and eventually recover Rob. Without your efforts and support, we may not have had the luxury of keeping the search going. There were so many of you who dropped your daily routines to help a friend in need. What an honor to have friends like yourselves.

As you all know by now, Rob was located Sunday afternoon, Sept. 27. It is nice to know that Rob Carter is home now so there can be family closure and that we did not have to leave him on the mountain any longer. That part of everyone’s efforts is very gratifying.

Again, thank you very much for your time and efforts during this exhausting but rewarding time. —Mel Rice, Public Relations Officer, Beaverhead County Search and Rescue
