LETTER: Broadband push needs local component
It’s nice to see our senators making noise about broadband in Montana, but pardon me if I doubt we will see helpful action as a result.
I hope Kalispell city residents will join the rest of us and demand that the power company begin providing broadband service. This would require a very minimal investment on equipment and we could all have broadband that was 20 times faster at half the cost.
Broadband access is a vital part of our lives and no longer a luxury — most of my VA health care is coordinated via the Internet and tele-conferencing with doctors and counselors is going play a major role in keeping an aging population connected and healthy.
Send a note with your power bill and let them know you want broadband. Let’s allow the “free” market to work by providing competition. —Robert Petersen, Evergreen
