LETTER: Osorio-Khor has the skills needed for City Council
I have known Karlene Osorio-Khor for about four years and believe she would make an excellent member of the City Council. First, she is a business woman who knows how to analyze financial information and always acts in a thoughtful manner. In the past few years, she was able to shine a light on how enlarging the city airport was not in the financial interests of most of the taxpayers of Kalispell.
She has been involved with a group of neighbors in Kalispell who have been tackling the parking issue related to Flathead High School. One of the points of contention with parking is that the neighbors need to now pay for passes for their friends to use for parking. The two free passes for the homeowners are to be used only for the homeowners. So, all guest and friends must have a $25 guest parking pass. The enforcement of the parking ordinance city has also been problematic for the neighborhood.
Recently, Karlene went to City Council to ask them to look at the traffic on Third and Fourth Avenues East and Seventh Street West and 11th Avenue. The Public Works Director has assured Karlene she will conduct a traffic study to see if additional stop signs or speed bumps should be installed. On the east side of town, 40 percent of the elementary children are walking to Hedges and their safety is very important to Karlene. Seventh Street West and 11th Avenue has no sidewalks, curbs and is also a traffic safety concern.
Please vote for Karlene. I highly recommend her. —Lynne Bradley, Kalispell
