Workplace issues discussed at brown-bag session

The fall Brown Bag Series continues on Wednesday with a program about “emotional intelligence competencies” from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Flathead Valley Community College Arts and Technology Building in room 139.

The presentation will cover critical social and emotional intelligence in the workplace, four essential elements for effective communication and tools to practice these skills daily in the workplace.

Rebecca Johns, a workplace coach, will facilitate the presentation. The concept is to help eliminate miscommunications, misunderstandings and ineffective interpersonal communication skills.

Whitefish eateries to be highlighted at Last Best Taste event

 The Last Best Taste, known also as the Taste of Whitefish, is planned Sept. 10. More than 20 of Whitefish’s top restaurants, caterers and beverage companies will be on hand for this year’s event.

Eureka artist Michelle Lynn will provide musical entertainment.

The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 1 Central Avenue in Whitefish.

Tickets cost $40, which include complimentary beer, wine, whiskey and food tasting. Tickets are available at the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, by phone at 862-3501 or online at www.whitefishchamber.org.

Meeting designed to help businesses deal with export issues

The Montana World Trade Center is holding an open meeting on Thursday with Flathead Valley businesses that are interested in expanding exports into Canada or other countries.

Executive Director Brigitta Miranda Freer and Senior Project Manager Luke Walawander will be available to meet with interested businesses and offer guidance and assistance with export strategies.
