Not everyone likes poetry

A man reportedly has been spending time in a Kalispell business’s community room taking naps. He claimed he was a poet when asked about his business there and began reciting suggestive poetry to female employees. The Kalispell Police Department was called because he was making people uncomfortable with his decidedly unorthodox meter.

Two men were acting like they were “on something” on Idaho Street and were reportedly dropping weapons on the ground. One man dropped a pistol while revealing he had a knife in his pocket as well. They didn’t threaten anyone, but the caller was concerned because they were dropping firearms.

A new tenant at a Fifth Avenue East residence called police after the previous tenant allegedly harassed her to get a fridge in the house back. The previous tenant broke a window and removed the fridge during the day while the caller was gone.

A First Avenue East North resident called police to report hearing mysterious footsteps in her house. She waited out on the sidewalk for an officer to come check out the cause.


Vehicles on Labrie Drive and Marina Crest Lane were broken into on Sunday morning, requiring response from the Whitefish Police Department. One car was rummaged through, but didn’t have anything missing. A truck reportedly had a firearm and a camera stolen from it.

A man allegedly stole a diamond ring from a business on Central Avenue. The owner reported they had security footage of the man stealing the ring and then getting into an out-of-state vehicle.

A Baker Avenue man called police stating he was assaulted. The caller said he was going to shoot the man who did it, but then stated he didn’t have any weapons. Officers approached the man in the business from where he called to find him intoxicated and belligerent.

A resident off U.S. 93 called police to report a concert at a local venue. The venue was not having an event that night, but the resident claimed he could hear loud music.

A man was reportedly screaming profanities for quite a long time while trying to get into a red truck on Spokane Avenue. The caller thought he had been drinking and was unsure if the car even belonged to the potty-mouthed man. Responding officers found that the vehicle did not belong to the man and he was sent home in a taxi.


A loud burglar alarm was sounding from a business on Nucleus Avenue, prompting a call to the Columbia Falls Police Department. A window was open at the building, but the owner said nothing of value was inside as no business was using the space. He sent an employee to shut off the alarm and shut the window.


The West Valley Fire Department was called about a motor vehicle fire on U.S. 93 at 10:19 p.m.


The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest on Lumprey Road for criminal contempt.
