COLUMBIA FALLS — Polson’s Carson McDaniel and Whitefish’s Holly Hileman earned medalist honors at the Columbia Falls golf triangular on Thursday at Meadow Lake Resort.

McDaniel shot 6-over-par 78 to beat Whitefish’s Joey Walp by one stroke on the boys half of the meet.

Columbia Falls’ Gabe Love was third, carding an 84.

The Polson boys placed all five boys in the top seven to easily win the team title with a 359 total.

With only nine girls competing, the Whitefish girls proved to be the class of the event, placing the top four golfers.

Hileman led the pack with a 92, followed by sister Hayley Hileman, who shot 102.

Page Sproul carded a 104 to finish third and Myah Strouser was fourth with her 110.

“Meadow Lake always offers a really good challenge for the kids,” Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said.

“The weather was perfect and the course was in great shape.”

The season is rounding up for Class A’s golfers, with divisionals teeing off in two weeks.

The state meet will be held on the far end of the state in Sidney on Oct. 2-3.
