No tow big enough for this trailer

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office had trouble finding a tow truck large enough to remove a fifth-wheel trailer parked on the bike path on Rose Crossing near Kalispell. The sheriff’s tow truck and other commercial tow trucks were too small to remove the vehicle. The phone number listed for the owner was no good. The trailer had temporary Arizona license plates.

A washer and dryer were stolen from a home on Meadow Lake Boulevard. The landlord said a tenant had recently been evicted from the property.

Neighbors were removed via armored officers after a man threatened suicide on Hidden Lane. The man had fired shots from the house a few days previously and had told someone earlier that day that if he tried to kill himself “it wouldn’t be good for the neighborhood.” The people were allowed back in their homes after law enforcement defused the situation.

A student found a pipe at a school on U.S. 2. The principal wanted the pipe picked up by deputies.

A woman on Farm to Market Road said her neighbor had shot at her while she was riding her horse. The woman said the neighbor had shot at her two months ago. The woman was not injured in either incident. The woman’s husband called the neighbor and the neighbor allegedly said he was shooting a duck. The woman said she doesn’t trust law enforcement but did want the incident logged for information.

A generator was found near a crane on U.S. 2 East. The business at the location did not own a generator.

A woman at a residence on U.S. let a man and woman stay in a tent in her yard. The couple stole some things from the woman’s home and when the woman confronted the duo about it, the man threw the homeowner on the ground. The woman went to the hospital. She told deputies she “chest bumped” the man prior to him getting physical, and that she would pursue civil charges.

A man on East Reserve Drive reported that he had used a .223 to kill a skunk that invaded his chicken coop. He wanted law enforcement to be aware in case someone reported shots being fired.


Whitefish Police Department picked up a flat-screen television that was found in the bushes of a business on Baker Avenue.


Kalispell Police Department took a report of a pair of stilts stolen from a vehicle on U.S. 2 West.

All appeared fine after a person reported that 15 to 20 high-school students on Third Avenue East looked like they were going to get into a fight during lunch hour. Officers found a calm scene when they arrived.

A man had his hat pulled off and was pushed to the ground in an altercation with an ex-employee on Fourth Avenue East. The man was advised about restraining order options.

Guns and other items were reported stolen from a home on First Avenue West.

The owner of storage units on Meridian Road reported that man had been renting a unit to store items he stole from other units.

Officers had to assist a man on Blue Crest Drive who had fallen out of bed. The man told dispatch that he had been drinking for the past three days and had consumed five bottles of vodka and beer.


Two vehicles collided Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Montana 40 near Columbia Falls.

A Subaru Outback was turning southbound on U.S. 2 when the light turned yellow. An Isuzu Trooper going eastbound on Montana 40 continued through the yellow light, Montana Highway Patrol Brian Thorne said.

The driver of the Isuzu was taken to the hospital by his wife. A passenger in the Subaru was taken to the hospital by Evergreen Fire Rescue.
