GREAT FALLS — Make it four races and four wins for Glacier’s Annie Hill in 2015.

The sophomore and defending Class AA state champion primed herself for another state title by winning the Great Falls Invitational at Eagle Falls Golf Course, which happens to also be the site of this year’s state cross country meet on Oct. 24.

Hill bested a sizable field Friday to win the large-school girls three-mile race in 17:08.67, more than 20 seconds ahead of Billings Senior’s Christina Aragon, herself one of the top-ranked runners in the country and Hill’s chief challenger for the state championship.

Because Eagle Falls will host the state meet, more than 1,000 runners from 44 different high schools were expected to participate in day’s events, which included two boys and two girls races.

Hill’s win helped the Wolfpack place fourth in the team standings, one spot behind Flathead. The Bravettes had a trio of top 10 finishers — Kaitlin Wride (5th, 18:26.42), Nicole Bouma (6th, 19:04) and Gillian Maness (8th, 19:09). Glacier’s Bailey Smith finished 10th in 19:19.48.

Senior won the large-school girls team title with 45 points, comfortably ahead of Missoula Hellgate (70 points) and Flathead (88).

In the large-school boys race, Flathead’s Jake Perrin ran a 16:02.2 to claim third place and help the Braves to a third-place finish as a team. Glacier was seventh in the team standings, paced by Tevyn Stetson in 11th with a time of 16:29.55.

Marshall Beatty of Missoula Sentinel won the large-school boys race in 15:18.84. Hellgate earned the team win with 57 points, just three points clear of Senior.
