Shirley May Simons Johnson, 65

Shirley May Simons Johnson was born in Kalispell on May 1, 1950, to Kenneth and Rosamay Simons. She attended grade school in Lakeside and Somers, and graduated from Flathead County High School in 1969. She also attended Flathead Valley Community College.

She met her husband of 44 years, Duard Johnson, in 1968 and they were married June 12, 1971. They moved to Bozeman in 1972 where their daughter Darcy was born in 1976. They then moved to Clyde Park and on to White Sulphur Springs where they lived for 10 years. Their son Duane was born in 1981. They moved to Fortine in 1987 where they have since resided.

On Sept. 19, 2015, “Shirley was called home to the Lord” after a long battle with multiple health issues. She was surrounded by family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth, and mother Rosamay Simons, grandparents on both sides, and sister Kimberly Simons.

She is survived by her husband, Duard Johnson; son, Duane Johnson, and grand-daughter, McKenna, of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Darcy Lucey, and grand-daughters, Emma and Amilia, of Wasilla, Alaska; foster children, Felisha West and Jason Lee; sister, Sherry Safonov; brothers, Duane Simons, Darrin Simons and Kevin Simons; aunts, Lenore Burgess and Karen Mower; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a large extended family.

Memorial services will be planned for a later date.
