Golf titles for Schulz, Whitefish girls, boys
BUTTE — Whitefish nearly swept all the golfing honors at the Western A divisional tournament on Saturday at Fairmont Hot Springs.
Coral Schulz, the defending state champion, carded a 77 to take medalist honors and lead the Whitefish girls to the team title.
The Bulldogs had three individuals in the top five en route to a 372 total.
Frenchtown was second at 429.
Whitefish’s Katie Fyall was third with her 88 and Holly Hileman fifth with a 92.
The Whitefish boys were also team champs, posting a 346 score to edge Hamilton by a stroke for the trophy.
Polson, 352, was third and Columbia Falls, 382, fourth.
Tyge Yelenich of Butte Central was the medalist, carding an 80.
Joey Walp of Whitefish was fourth with his 81.
Polson’s Carson McDaniel and Curtis Capdeville were fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 83 and 84.
The top four teams and top 30 individuals move on to the state tournament in Sidney. Play begins Friday.
