LETTER: Mayor wrong in fight with dedicated board member

| September 27, 2015 11:00 AM

I’ve known Karlene Osorio-Khor for years. She is a community leader, a consummate volunteer and a candidate for City Council. I watched last Monday night’s City Council meeting. Contrary to the statement given by Mayor Mark Johnson to the newspaper, I did not see or hear any “antagonistic” words or attitudes from her as she spoke to the council. It is a sad day when Mayor Johnson has to resort to the tactics he has taken in order to suppress a difference of opinion.

The mayor can select who he wants for a board appointment WITH City Council approval. I would hope he would pick someone who has experience. If they have served on a board and wish to continue to serve it’s prudent to take their prior service into consideration. For those of you who have been in front of the Planning Board, you know Karlene asks questions, and participates and conducts herself on that board in a thoughtful and polite way.

Kalispell Ward 3 voters see this for what it is — an unfair and inaccurate description of a candidate Johnson does not want elected to City Council, let alone, re-appointed to a board she has served on so well. —Lynn A. Murray, Kila
