Caller reports possible suspect

A caller told the Kalispell Police Department that they had probably located the suspect in a stabbing which occurred last week at a hotel on East Idaho Street. The caller said he knew it was the suspect because they yelled the suspect’s name at the man and he looked at them. 

A bartender on U.S. 2 had enough from his patrons starting trouble so he kicked all of them out. Around 40 people were milling about in the parking lot and the bartender was afraid they might cause trouble. Officers found a group of people laughing and talking outside, but no hostilities.

An employee’s boyfriend was waiting in the lobby of a business, drinking whiskey out of a water bottle and harassing customers for money. He was gone by the time police arrived.


 

A woman called the Whitefish Police Department after she saw a large mountain lion while walking her dog on East Fourth Street near the river. 

An Edgewood Place woman who “borrowed” a gun from a family member called police to report the firearm had been stolen from her vehicle and needed it back before the owner found out.

A man was cleaning a firearm on West Second Street when it went off in his hands, sending a bullet through the ceiling and into the apartment above. He told police he didn’t know the gun was loaded. The man’s girlfriend had a different story to tell, stating that the man had tried to kill himself but had missed. The ex-military man had been drinking, and the girlfriend said they were involved in a domestic dispute before the “accidental” discharge.

A Whitefish resident called Petroleum County to look for a hunter who had been missing in the C.M. Russell Game Range. Search parties and air resources were recalled when the man was found alive and well.

A vehicle struck a stop sign on Colorado Avenue and then drove off. A nearby resident saw the red sports car hit the sign then take off. The stop sign was bent over. Public works said they would put another one up.


 

A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department after he was approached by a stranger who wanted to trade a knife for a cigarette. The man declined, and phoned police, stating the guy had a “robber” sort of vibe.

A man on Ninth Street West called police after his girlfriend bit him during a dispute and now was attempting to drive off with the caller’s son even though she was high on drugs. 

A Columbia Drive resident wanted a welfare check on a young woman going door to door at night selling books. The caller was worried the college-aged woman would get herself in trouble.


 

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to a caller reporting he was watching a woman “get the crap beat out of her” at a gas station on U.S. 93 South. The woman was concussed and not sure what was happening. The man had taken off in a Toyota pickup truck before officers arrived.

A man with a sledgehammer refused to leave a residence on Idaho Hill Road in Marion. The man had physically assaulted the homeowner in the past.

A Hungry Horse man threatened suicide by drunk driving, prompting a friend to call authorities. The man was driving on U.S. 2 and hitting guardrails. He pulled into his driveway and was taken to the emergency room.

A woman on Ashley Lake Road called police after witnessing a bear inside her mother’s home. The bear had trashed the place and left scat on the floor.


 

The Columbia Falls Fire Department was called about a structure fire on Third Avenue West at 10:27 a.m.
