Stillwater Christian controlled the pace of its nonconference soccer match against the Whitefish JV on Tuesday, but couldn’t find the back of the net, falling to the Bulldogs 1-0.

Whitefish’s Pixie Moore scored the breakthrough goal, slotting home a pass from Audrey Hyatt in the 28th minute to give the Bulldogs the lead against a stingy Stillwater defense. The Cougars outshot Whitefish 19-6 in the game.

“Despite controlling play for most of the game, we had a defensive breakdown up the middle that led to a goal,” Stillwater coach JR Hemp said.

“We had many chances on goal and just couldn’t put it in the back of the net. We just had trouble moving the ball in the final third and were unable to finish tonight.”

Whitefish stopped 11 shots and defended all five Stillwater corner kicks.

Stillwater is back on the pitch on at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday against the Columbia Falls JV at Stillwater Christian School.
