Dorothea Lovering, 91

| August 1, 2016 7:14 PM

Dorothea Lovering, 91, “joined her parents Doug and Ella Wickham and husband Harry” on July 24, 2016.

She lived a long and storied life. Dorothea was born in Somers in 1925. Her family moved around for her first years until finally moving back to Kalispell where she worked at Woolworth’s and watched for enemy planes during World War II.

She met Harry Lovering through the help of friends. They were married for 50 years. He left this existence in 1998.

She was a devoted and protective mother to her three sons, Darrell and wife Janice, their son Andrew and daughter Myria; Clinton and wife Vickie, their sons Jacob and Ian, and Cliff Lovering.

Dorothea was an accomplished horsewoman and cowgirl in her teen years. Harry and Dorothea were early members of the Flathead Valley Search and Rescue. In her later years she worked for West Valley School as a tutor for struggling children. She also volunteered with the local tourist board.

In the last years she struggled with dementia. A battle she ultimately could not overcome.

She is survived by her three sons, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and nieces, Linda Doty, Marylin Lovering, Darrissa Cowden and Dawndi Cameron.

Visitation for Dorothea will be from 9 to 11 am Aug. 6 at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Graveside remembrance will be at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 6 in Glacier Memorial Gardens.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the Lovering family.
