LETTER: Thanks for help with Arts in Park

| August 2, 2016 10:30 AM

The Hockaday Museum of Art held its 48th “Arts in the Park” over the weekend of July 15-17. Nearly 100 artists exhibited their creations for sale. The weather was nearly perfect, with only a little rain, and the food and drink vendors provided a wide range of food and drink for the more than 7,000 people who supported the museum by attending. In sum, it was a successful event for the arts and a major fundraiser for the county’s premier art museum.

Many businesses and volunteers contributed their time, money, and support in kind to make the “Arts in the Park” a first-class event. On behalf of the Hockaday Museum and its board of directors, I want to thank the many local organizations that supported the event. You all have contributed a great deal to make the event and the museum successful.

Special thanks go to (in alphabetical order) Airworks Inc., The Daily Inter Lake, Glacier Bank, Glacier Sun Winery, High Country Linen Supply, Midway Rental, Park Side Credit Union, Starbucks, Super 1, Teletech and Toyota. You are great partners in a wonderful community and county. The individuals who helped with the setup and operation of the event are too many to name, but their service to the Hockaday was invaluable. Thank you all.

The mission and purpose of the Hockaday Museum of Art is “to enrich the cultural life of our community and region and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park.” Like the wonderful Conrad Mansion and the Central School Museum, the Hockaday is a jewel in our beautiful Flathead region’s crown. I hope you will visit the Hockaday and also help us celebrate the “Timeless Legacy II” show and exhibit starting on Aug. 13 at the museum.
