GOLF: Polson, Whitefish first at Northwest A Kickoff
WHITEFISH — Carson McDaniel shot an even par 72 to earn medalist honors and lead Polson’s boys to a comfortable win at the Northwest A Kickoff tournament at Whitefish Lake Golf Club on Wednesday.
McDaniel’s round highlighted a 1-2-3 Pirates sweep of the podium, with Matt Hobbs second (78) and Trey Kelley (80) in third.
The Pirates’ team score of 327 was 24 strokes better than second-place finisher Columbia Falls. The Wildcats were led by Logan Peck’s 85, good for fifth. Brendan Buls of Whitefish was fourth with an 82.
The host Bulldogs won the girls title comfortably, posting a team score of 377. Seniors Hayley and Holly Hileman were second and third with rounds of 85 and 86, respectively.
Frenchtown’s Danielle Flynn shot an 83 to win the girls title. Polson’s Kiyara McCue (93) was fourth.
