Woman reports suspicious phone calls

A woman told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that she received three back-to-back calls, likely a scam, from two men who allegedly claimed to have kidnapped her husband and demanded money. The upset woman said the person claimed to have her husband in the back of a van and heard someone cry for help, however, she had recently been in contact with her husband. The people on the phone reportedly threatened her to stay on the phone and pay “or else.”

The sheriff’s office received a report of a downed paraglider and Two Bear Air was requested and later canceled. The man said he had a hip injury and was located in a remote area.

Mailboxes were rifled through on Birch Drive in Kalispell. Someone reported that “almost every box” was open and mail was on the ground.

“A large amount of mail,” which appeared to be stolen from all over Evergreen, was reportedly found outside of a business on Montana 35 in Kalispell.

A couple of stray goats were discovered on a Whitefish Stage Road property in Kalispell. One of the goats was allegedly “destroying flowers and peeing all over the place.”

A jogger on Beaver Lakes Road in Whitefish may have run a little faster after reporting seeing a bear. The jogger thought it was possibly a brown bear, but wasn’t sure and said it was not aggressive.

A Kila Road resident said a man, who looked like he was homeless, allegedly stuck his head in a window of her house and asked for a ride into town. A second report came in of the man attempting to ask another woman on Browns Meadow Road for a ride to Kalispell and when she declined he allegedly walked all over her property.

Someone on Montana 35 in Kalispell said a woman driving a Ford Focus reportedly almost ran another woman off the road.

A dump truck in Kila was spotted dropping gravel onto the road for about five to eight miles because a back gate was not completely latched.

Someone allegedly heard a woman “screaming like a lunatic” while pushing a baby stroller on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse. The person said a man was also yelling and screaming and then a second male got involved.

A vehicle was reported stolen on U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls.


Someone called the Kalispell Police Department when a man inside a vehicle on U.S. 93 North was reportedly seen hitting the windows and could be heard screaming across a parking lot. Turns out the man was just trying to get cell service.

A resident on East Nicklaus Avenue found a box containing a baseball glove, baseballs, a bottle of pills, a hat and socks in the shrubs.

A caller on First Avenue East reported a man parked his motorcycle in a handicapped space on multiple occasions and disregarded being asked not to park there. The person making the report was advised the motorcycle had a valid handicapped permit.

A disgruntled renter allegedly threatened to burn someone’s vehicle after being served with an eviction notice for not paying rent.

A towing company checked with police about towing a vehicle on Fifth Avenue East. The owner of the vehicle was reportedly in surgery after being bitten by a dog and the dog’s owner called to have the victim’s vehicle towed from his property.

Someone complained about littering allegedly happening from between 10 to 15 transients camping in tents by the bridge in Lawrence Park. The person didn’t mince words when he or she said “they are ruining the area.”

A man with a “big belly” allegedly offered to sell someone pot on First Avenue East North.

Apparently some children’s behavior on Vanderbilt Drive escalated to hooliganism when they allegedly left smoke bombs on someone’s porch, harassed another child and knocked on someone’s door repeatedly over the past week.

A teen girl was reportedly beaten up on Sixth Avenue West.

Someone dropped the bass a little too much for a man’s taste on Seventh Avenue West when he reported could “feel the bass” in his house.

A broken lawn sprinkler and a partially broken sprinkler was reported on Fourth Avenue West.

Five “very intoxicated” males were being loud and allegedly started driving a golf cart around on North Meridian Road. Some of them were cited by officers and released to their parents.

A vehicle clipped a bicyclist on Sunny View Lane and U.S. 93 North.


A driver on Ninth Street West was not happy to find kids reportedly painting a street for a fundraiser who were not supervised, “were all over the road” and were “not being safe or wearing caution vests” according to a report from Columbia Falls Police Department.

Someone thought a verbal disturbance was under way on Seventh Street West when he or she heard a neighbor, possibly kids, screaming for an hour. It turns out kids were just playing video games and everything was OK.
