High winds knock down power lines

Flathead Electric Cooperative reported roughly 1,000 people lost electricity Thursday night when a dozen or so power lines were downed during the night’s windstorm. According to the National Weather Service, wind gust speeds hit 57 mph. Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said there were no major emergencies caused by the storm.

Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an alleged car thief near Lakeside when the driver reportedly drove the stolen car to a thrift store. A person who recognized the car made the call and followed the suspect to the scene.

A man was allegedly exposing himself on the Swan River Nature Trail. The caller told of being followed by the man. As the caller continued to talk, the alleged exposer left.

A Marion man called police after stopping someone from breaking into his car. The caller said he had the alleged thief at gunpoint on the ground and would release him when deputies arrived.

Officers searched for a man who was allegedly beating a woman in a parking lot in Kalispell. Later the woman was chasing the man.

A Coram resident called for help when a stranger in a parking lot allegedly told him “something about bounty hunters chasing him in the area for three days.”

A Marion man called officers when he found a tarp in the woods off his property that he said people may be living under. According to the caller, there were pills, a jar of blood and CDs that had been stolen from him.

Columbia Falls Police looked for a man who allegedly tried to break into a business off Ninth Street. An employee of the business called for help when the man was found the man at the site.

A resident told police an intoxicated man allegedly tried to walk into a house.
