GOLF: Whitefish girls win third straight tournament
RONAN — Whitefish had four girls place in the top six which helped the Bulldogs take the team title at the Columbia Falls Invitational golf tournament on Thursday afternoon at Mission Mountain Country Club.
Courtney Ockler and Dani Flynn, both of Frenchtown, had the top scores, 84 and 87, respectively. Whitefish girls, however, were in the next four places — Hayley Hileman, third with an 88, Paige Sproul and Katy Dolan tied for fourth with 103s and Ella Shaw was sixth with a 104.
Whitefish’s Megan Archibald tied Hamilton’s Melissa Kimp for seventh. Both girls shot 106.
Hamilton, 461, was second.
Only three girls teams posted scores.
In boys action, Hamilton had three golfers in the top five and claimed the team trophy with a 307 score. Polson, 319, was second, Columbia Falls, 353, third and Whitefish, 419, fifth.
Max Toenjes of Hamilton shot a 1-under 71 for medalist honors. Teammates Tristan Hansen and Blaine Wetzsteon tied for third with 77s.
Carson McDaniel of Polson was second with a 73.
Polson’s Matt Hobbs, 79, was fifth and Trey Kelley, 82, tied for seventh with three other golfers. Logan Lybbert of Columbia Falls also shot 82.
Columbia Falls will host an invitational on Monday at Glacier View in West Glacier. Also competing are Browning, Polson, Flathead JV and Glacier JV.
