LAW ROUNDUP: Drop box assaulted, but hangs tough

A night drop box was reportedly knocked over or “ripped out of the ground” on U.S. 93 in Whitefish, according to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. It appeared that nothing was taken or missing from inside the lock box.

A man on U.S. 2 East in Hungry Horse told deputies several cardboard signs for his business were allegedly destroyed. He also said someone may have shot at his business after he found a small hole in a window.

Someone in Whitefish said a veterinarian reportedly confirmed his or her dogs had been poisoned.

A strong smell was allegedly coming from residence in Kalispell and someone thought people might be “cooking drugs.”

A woman on Swan Hill Drive in Bigfork told officers that her house and van were broken into and among the missing items was an antique firearm.

A woman on Broken Choker Lane in Bigfork said a teen boy was reportedly going to attack her with a stick.

Someone found a shotgun lying in the woods.

A “very vulgar and aggressive” woman was allegedly walking on West Cottonwood Drive in Kalispell yelling at everyone, “trying to pick fights with anyone who says anything to her” and attempting to go into people’s houses.

Men were reportedly shooting near a woman’s Rogers Lake Road house in Kila and the woman said she was “tired of people shooting in the area,” and it was “too late to be doing this.”

A fight over a boat being returned late ensued on Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside.

Someone wanted to talk to Kalispell Police Department about possible prostitution in the area. Someone else wanted to talk about gun rights and was referred to a city attorney.

A woman reportedly found a man inside her house trying to steal her TV and she chased him out the back door.

Someone on Windward Way saw a woman allegedly hit a dog and grab its neck. The caller wanted the dog “taken away from her.” Officers reported that the dog looked well and could walk fine, but would forward the information on to the city attorney.

A woman reportedly stole a cordless drill from her ex on Sixth Avenue West because she was allegedly denied money owed to her.

Someone was in tears after pulling out from a North Main Street fast-food restaurant and javing a run-in with pedestrians. She said she didn’t see a man and woman walking by, but didn’t hit them either. Nonetheless, the angry man threw soda all over the driver’s vehicle. The caller wanted to report the incident in case someone attempted to call in and claim they were hit.

A man pushing a cart outside a West Idaho Street business was allegedly asking people for money and swore at an employee who asked him to leave.

Someone spotted a man in a wheelchair with his arm in a sling, asking for money on Hutton Ranch Road before allegedly getting out of the wheelchair and going inside a restaurant.

A man on West Colorado Street wanted an officer to educate a woman on smoking laws because she had allegedly complained to him about his cigarette smoke coming through a fence.

An intoxicated man wrapped in a blanket reportedly refused to leave an East Idaho Street business. The person calling in the complaint said the man was not being disorderly and had just “slid his butt down and won’t leave.” The man was removed.

Mailboxes were reportedly run over on South Meridian Road.

A man’s stolen AR-15 rifle was recovered and returned.

Three microwaves were reported stolen on Colorado Avenue to Whitefish Police Department.

A trashcan apparently fell out of a truck and landed in the middle of one lane on U.S. 93 South.

Someone saw a man who was standing near a truck take his shorts off on U.S. 93 South.

A man was warned about providing water for his dog when someone told police it was too hot for a barking dog kept inside a vehicle on West 13th Street.

An insurance agent from Havre was agitated that he reportedly hadn’t heard from Columbia Falls Police Department about getting a copy of an accident report and “wondered what kind of magic needed to happen” to get it.

An employee on Nucleus Avenue told police there was video footage of a woman stealing a customer’s purse from a shopping cart.

A man and woman in a vehicle on Frontage Road raised the suspicions of someone who thought the pair looked like they were allegedly “cooking out of the trunk.”

A man’s relative reportedly threatened to “burn the house down” before bicycling away on Ninth Street West.
