Matthew S. Dymkoski, 71

Matthew S. Dymkoski, 71, passed away on Nov. 25, 2016, in Kalispell in the loving arms of family, following a courageous and dignified battle with cancer.

Matt was born in Mineola, New York, on April 17, 1945, to Sidney and Margaret Dymkoski. He grew up in rural Kennebunk, Maine, where he developed a love for the outdoors and learned to hunt and fish at a young age. His senior year in high school his family moved to Woodbridge, Connecticut, where he chose the seat next to the prettiest girl in class, Linda Lee Bowles. Linda quickly became the love of his life and wife of 50 wonderful years.

He attended the University of Connecticut where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. Matt worked on a number of large construction projects on the East Coast and overseas. In 1971, Matt and Linda began their western adventure and moved their young family to the Bay area of California. That same year they furthered their adventure and headed north to Washington state where Matt worked on nuclear power projects in the Hanford area. Pasco became Matt and Linda’s home for the next 20 years and a memorable place to raise their family. Ever industrious and quite the entrepreneurs, Matt and Linda also made their living in home building, and even dabbled in Columbia Basin irrigated agriculture. In the early 1990s, they relocated to Bellevue, Washington, where Matt continued his career in construction contracting.

After 15 years in western Washington, Matt and Linda retired and realized Matt’s lifelong dream of living in Montana, settling in a beautiful home overlooking Flathead Lake.

In retirement, Matt found pleasure by immersing himself in all that he enjoyed; construction work, hunting and shooting and most especially developing his love of horsemanship. Matt lived his life to the fullest everyday, never dwelling on his ongoing fight with cancer. His remarkable humor was ever present, even during his final days. As his cancer remissions would shorten, he was known to ask his oncologist if he should continue to shop at Costco …

Matt’s intense pride in his family was strong and is reflected in the loved ones he left behind. He is survived by his wife Linda; daughters, Sharon Ramos (Rick) and Christine Towns (Barry); son, Michael Dymkoski; and grandchildren, Matthew Dymkoski, Bailee Towns, Mitchell Dymkoski, Blake Towns, Benjamin Ramos, and Sophia Ramos. He also leaves behind his beloved animals, Josie, Rusty and Daisy Mae; and his siblings, Mark Dymkoski, Martha Haney and Malcom Dymkoski.

Private services will be held by the family.
