Hattie Victoria (nee Jirges) Polensky, 89

Hattie Victoria Polensky left us on Oct. 20, 2016.

She was born to Joseph and Mary Jirges on Feb. 17, 1927, in North Dakota and lived in New Hradec, North Dakota, until the 1950s.

Hattie married Andrew Polensky in New Hradec in the St. Peter and Paul Cathedral and they soon welcomed Roger Polensky and Joanne Polensky to their family before moving to Kalispell.

Hattie took a job at the laundry at Kalispell Regional Hospital, where she worked until she retired. She very much enjoyed her time working and the relationships she had with her coworkers.

In her old age, her grandchildren formed a “care team” to care for her through two nursing facilities to ensure she was able to live in a dignified way and felt loved and cherished. She would tell us every time we left that “I love you. I love all my grandchildren.” And she did. She loved us all so thoroughly.

Hattie was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Jirges; sister, Mary Luptak; sister, Beatrice Fichter; and husband, Andrew Polensky.

She is survived by her sister, Martha Jablonski, of Dickenson, North Dakota; her children, Roger Polensky and Joanne Polensky; her grandchildren, Renae Polensky-Gugler, Jason Polensky of Wichita, Kansas, Joshua Romine, Daniel Romine and Kimberly Romine; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Simon, Degan, Hagen, Marrinity, Ava and Layla.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Kalispell.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please bring flowers to a living loved one of your own. Always remember to show love to your family while they are with us, as you never know when they will be gone.
