Brian Hensleigh, 28

| December 18, 2016 8:00 AM

Brian Hensleigh was born on July 15, 1988, in Kalispell, to Tom and Mitzi Hensleigh.

Brian passed away Dec. 14, 2016, in Chicago after a five-year struggle with addiction.

Brian attended Kalispell schools and graduated from Flathead High in 2007. While he enjoyed playing multiple sports, Brian excelled at the game of golf and was a member of Flathead’s golf team during his high school years. During this time, one of his chief goals was to beat his dad and he succeeded several times in that endeavor. Brian was also a formidable foe playing ping pong. So many nights and days were spent defeating various family members and friends in the attic above the garage.

Brian loved everything about being born and raised in the Flathead Valley. Whether hiking in Glacier or swimming in our many lakes, he felt a sense of peace and satisfaction. He took so many pictures of sunsets, mountains and scenery. They were always nearby on his phone so he could look at them after he moved to Chicago.

Brian worked various jobs in Kalispell and was currently working at HMR Designs in Chicago.

Brian was so loved by his family and friends ... and all he met in his too-short life. He will be missed but always in our hearts.

Brian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Emmett and Nora Foley of Butte, and his paternal grandfather Lyle Hensleigh of Kalispell.

Brian is survived by his parents, Tom and Mitzi Hensleigh, of Kalispell; his brothers, Chris (Alissa) and their son Graham of Arlington, Virginia, and Tyler (Nikki) of Chicago, and Tyler’s son Deklan of Youngstown, Ohio; his grandmother, Helen Hensleigh, of Kalispell; aunts, Sheila Hobbs (Bob) of Medford, Oregon, and Mary Thane (Mark) of Missoula; uncles, Dan Foley (Robin) of Poulsbo, Washington, Jim Hensleigh (Jennifer) of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Bill Hensleigh (Bonita) of Kalispell; as well as cousins and friends.

A funeral Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 602 S. Main St. in Kalispell. A reception after the service will be at Buffalo Hill Golf Club, 1176 N. Main St.
