BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Columbia Falls girls, Bigfork boys stay undefeated

COLUMBIA FALLS — Peyton Kehr tallied 20 points and Kiara Burlage followed with 13 as Columbia Falls defeated Eureka 72-33 in nonconference girls basketball action Saturday afternoon.

Kehr was deadly behind the arc, hitting five of six treys.

Burlage made all five of her shots from the field. She also pulled down seven rebounds.

Cydney Finberg had a strong all-around game with eight points, seven assists and three steals.

Columbia Falls (7-0) led 40-15 at intermission.

“For the first game out of the break, I was happy,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“As a team, we had 21 assists and only 13 turnovers. We moved the ball well.”

Eureka was led offensively by Amanda Peterson, who netted 17 points.

LIBBY — Shannon Reny was sharp at the free-throw line, hitting 12 of 15 tries en route to a 24-point performance in leading Libby to a nonconference victory over Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

Jayden Winslow also had a big offensive go for Libby with 19 points.

Libby outscored Bonners Ferry 17-7 in the second quarter to lead at the half, 28-20.

BIGFORK — It looked good early for Bigfork, the Valkyries jumping out to a 20-2 lead after the first quarter. But Seeley-Swan regrouped in a hurry to pick up the nonconference win.

The vistors outscored Bigfork 46-19 for the remainder of play.

Miranda Campbell led Bigfork (4-3) in scoring with 11 points.

Alex Bohlman paced Seeley-Swan with 12.

MISSOULA — Missoula Sentinel connected on 15 of 19 foul shots and outscored Glacier in every quarter but the fourth to pick up the Western AA victory.

Sentinel led 11-9 and 27-17 after the first two quarter stops. Sentinel then outscored Glacier 19-13 to take a 46-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Shannon Worster led Sentinel, and all scorers, with 19 points.

Hailee Bennett led Glacier (3-2, 0-1) in scoring with nine points.

MISSOULA — Missoula Hellgate started and finished strong to down Flathead in Western AA play.

Sentinel held a 13-7 edge after the first quarter and outscored Flathead down the stretch, 17-8.

Tiana Johnson topped Flathead in scoring with 12 points.

Syd Riddle had 19 for Hellgate.

EUREKA — A strong start carried Columbia Falls to a nonconference victory over Eureka.

Columbia Falls bolted to a 35-14 halftime lead and outscored the hosts 33-12 in the second half.

Nathan Riley led Columbia Falls in scoring with 19 points. Steven DeCamp followed with 15 and Tyler Murphy added 12. Moe Henderson led Eureka with 10 points.

BIGFORK — Bigfork stayed unbeaten on the season by blasting Seeley-Swan in a nonconference matchup.

Bigfork (8-0) led from start to finish. The Vikings enjoyed a 40-16 advantage at the half.

Jonathan Landon led the Bigfork offense with 14 points while Garrett Beville turned in a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Jacob Haley topped Seeley-Swan in scoring with 11 points.

LIBBY — Ryggs Johnston and Erik Lauer shared scoring honors with 22 points each to help Libby defeat Bonners Ferry, Idaho, in a nonconference matchup.

Johnston hit nine of 10 foul shots while Lauer was 10 of 15 at the free-throw line.

Libby outscored Bonners Ferry 20-7 in the fourth quarter to pull away.
