BOYS BASKETBALL: Whitefish blows past Frenchtown in second half

WHITEFISH — Whitefish turned around a three-point halftime deficit by outscoring Frenchtown 31-16 in the second half on their way to a 51-39 win Tuesday night in the Bulldogs’ first Western A game of the season.

Sawyer Silliker posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Bulldogs (2-4, 1-0 Western A), who won for the first time since a season-opening victory against Eureka on December 4.

The Broncs raced out to a 23-20 lead at halftime but were undone by a five-point third quarter and entered the final frame trailing 33-28.

Janson Anderson added 10 points in the win, and Luke May delivered a balanced six-point, seven-rebound, four-assist effort.

Jacob Price scored 11 to pace Frenchtown.

Whitefish will travel next to take on Eureka at 6 p.m. Thursday.

DEER LODGE — Cade Benjamin out-dueled Ezekiel Misa and Deer Lodge held on to beat Ronan in District 6B action.

Benjamin’s 25 points for the Wardens were two better than the 23 Misa scored for the Chiefs, and the hosts dug out of a 24-22 halftime hole to earn the win.

Deer Lodge’s Brandon Porter was the only other player in double-figures with 10. Perry Panzegtenga added eight for Ronan.

Stillwater Christian 54, Flathead JV 50

Isaac Neumann scored 19 points to lead Stillwater Christian to a win at Flathead against the Braves’ junior varsity squad.

The Cougars led 21-10 after one quarter, only to see Flathead’s defense buckle down in the second and pull within 25-22 at halftime. The Braves led after three quarters, 41-40, before faltering down the stretch.

Neumann was one of three Cougars in double-figures, joined by Joe Hooker (11) and B.J. Bach (10).

Wyatt Potter led all scorers with 19 points for the Braves.

Stillwater Christian returns home to take on North Idaho Christian School at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
