WHITEFISH — Dani Douglas made five 3-pointers and Whitefish erased all but two points of an early 13-point deficit, only to come up short in a 45-43 loss to Frenchtown in the Bulldogs’ Western A opener on Tuesday.

Douglas did not come off the court in Tuesday’s game, making 5 of 7 triples in 32 minutes of action and adding a team-high five steals.

While the Bulldogs (2-4, 0-1 Western A) shot well from long distance, connecting on 8 of 13 3-pointers as a team, the hosts struggled inside the arc. Whitefish made just 24.2 percent of their two-point attempts and turned the ball over 22 times in the loss.

Frenchtown raced out to a 17-4 lead midway through the second quarter but Allie Schulz and Douglas drilled 3-pointers in the final minute of the frame to cut the Broncs’ lead to 21-13 at halftime.

Whitefish got within 32-28 at the end of the third quarter and made it a one-possession game early in the fourth. Frenchtown made 6 of 8 free throws in the final 2:28 to seal the victory.

Mariah Drown added eight points for the Bulldogs in a losing effort.
