BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Wildkats rout Loggers, Libby boys turn tables

COLUMBIA FALLS — The Columbia Falls girls jumped out to a fast start to smother Libby 68-28 in a nonconference basketball game on Friday night.

The Wildkats forced a slew of turnovers and jumped out to a 22-6 lead after the first quarter. By halftime Columbia Falls led 42-11 and never looked back, scoring 20 more points in the third quarter.

Cydney Finberg had a game-high 14 points to go with four assists and seven steals. Miranda Livingston had 13 points and Kiara Burlage had 10 points and nine rebounds as the Wildkats outrebounded Libby 33-21 and forced the Loggers into 24 turnovers.

“Early on, defensively, the kids came and played with a lot of energy,” Wildkats coach Cary Finberg said. “That set the tone and got our offense going. The first three quarters they competed and played solid basketball.”

Shannon Reny had 13 points to lead the Loggers and Jayden Winslow had 11.

Lulu Neumann had back-to-back field goals and made two free throws during a key stretch of the fourth quarter to help Stillwater Christian upend North Idaho Christian School in a nonconference contest at SCS.

Stillwater (4-5) outscored North Idaho 14-7 in the final quarter.

Neumann finished with six points and totaled 11 rebounds.

Alisa Venman led SCS in scoring with nine points.

Dori Smith had 13 rebounds and eight points for the victors.

Sammy Hill was North Idaho’s leading scorer with nine points.

THOMPSON FALLS — Eureka held a scoring edge on Thompson Falls in the middle two quarters en route to a District 7B victory.

Eureka outscored the hosts 26-17 in second and third quarters. Eureka led 23-17 at the half.

Sienna Utter had a strong offensive performance for Eureka, scoring a game-high 17 points. Stacy Cooper tallied 16.

Shey Hannum had 14 points to lead Thompson Falls.

THOMPSON FALLS — Thompson Falls jumped out to a 21-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back in blasting Eureka in a District 7B contest.

Thompson Falls led 45-9 at the half.

Joe Frields led Thompson Falls in scoring with 16 points. Tyler Riffle added 14.

Jamie Good had eight for Eureka.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Ryggs Johnston scored 10 of his 16 points points in the fourth quarter and Jonny Cielak, who tallied 14 points, hit five of six three throws down to the stretch to help Libby rally past Columbia Falls in a nonconference matchup.

Libby outscored Columbia Falls 22-12 in the final quarter to pick up the win.

Erik Lauer led the Loggers (5-2) with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Stillwater Christian used a big third quarter to pull away from North Idaho Christian School for a nonconference victory at SCS.

Stillwater (9-0) outscored North Idaho 28-7 in the third quarter for a 59-31 lead.

Isaac Neumann led a balanced Stillwater attack with 18 points. BJ Bach added 17 and Joe Hooker 15.

Brandon Schwintck had 18 for North Idaho.
