POLSON — Polson used six pins and a pair of close decisions to stick a 43-24 Northwest A dual wrestling loss on Columbia Falls Thursday evening.

Polson, which came into the matchup ranked No. 2, had lost an early dual to No. 3 Columbia Falls back in December. That’s been Polson’s only Class A dual setback of the season.

“We turned four matches around this time,” Polson coach Bob Owen said.

He said the battle at 285 between Nick Marquart of Polson and Kyler Koski was a dandy matchup.

“That was back and fourth,” Owen said. “They battled pretty hard.”

Koski prevailed with a 9-6 decision.

Polson also lost a close one at 126. Ben Windauer of Columbia Falls decisioned Thunder Morales 6-4.

“Windauer pulled it out in the third period,” Owen said.

Morales led 4-2 after two periods, but gave up a penalty point and a nearfall.

The match started at 145 with Polson’s Parker Adler getting a pin. Bridger Wenzel (120), Cameron Brown (132), Colton Cote (152), Noah Humphrey (182) and Mike Corrigan (205) had the other pins for Polson.

Austin Nelson (103) and Kaleb Gravelin (138) had pins for Columbia Falls.

Columbia Falls and Polson will compete in the Rocky Mountain Classic, which begins today in Missoula.
