Business reports gate-jumping burglars

The owner of a Central Avenue business called the Whitefish Police Department to report an overnight break-in attempt. According to the caller, an employee came to work in the morning to find trash cans had been moved so that someone could get over the back gate. The suspects allegedly broke into the outside cooler, and it was still unknown what had been taken. No damage was done to the building itself.

A Wisconsin Avenue resident called to report a brown dog had jumped her fence and was hanging out in the backyard. She said the dog did not have a collar and that the fence-jumping was a reoccurring problem.

A passerby called police to report a man on Central Avenue chasing a woman, then allegedly grabbing her and dragging her to a nearby bench. The caller was concerned because it appeared the man was yelling and being aggressive, and it “doesn’t look like she wants to be with him.” Officers located the pair and confirmed that everything was OK.

An employee of a Central Avenue business called police to assist security with a disorderly woman. The woman had calmed down and left the premises before officers arrived.


A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report that a woman had stolen his wallet. He was allegedly trying to get it back, but she was refusing to answer her door.

A woman called to report her wallet had been stolen and that she suspected her granddaughter and granddaughter’s boyfriend were behind the theft.

Someone on Meadow Lake Boulevard called to report a woman “passed out” in her car with the vehicle still running. Officers checked on the driver, who said she was just waiting for someone to come help her get a part for her car. Employees of the business nearby said she had permission to be there while she waited.

A Seventh Street West resident called to request that officers check on some children in a nearby apartment. The caller was concerned because she saw the parents leave and thought there was no adult watching the very young children. Officers found that there was a qualified babysitter watching the kids.

An employee of a Ninth Street West business called to report a woman who “doesn’t seem right.” The employee said the woman might be disabled and was concerned that she may not have anywhere else to go. Officers responded and helped the woman get a taxi home.
