LETTER: Booster clubs grateful for help solving parking problem

| January 17, 2016 11:00 AM

Through the collaborative efforts of various agencies and organizations, private businesses and neighborhood individuals, a major safety and parking problem at Legends Field has recently been eliminated.

The installation of two blocks of new city sidewalks on the north side of 12th Street West between First Avenue West and Third Avenue West was completed last fall. This work, along with future construction of sidewalks along the new Agency on Aging building and in conjunction with the Earl Bennett Building will not only yield safe access to Legends Field but will provide a convenient opportunity to utilize the over 200 parking spaces in well-lit parking lots during evening hours and Saturday games. Both parking lots will be within three blocks of the field and will be accessible by sidewalks. Completion of the Agency on Aging building, sidewalks and parking lot is scheduled for this summer.

We encourage all of our loyal fans to use these new sidewalks and parking spaces, while at the same time relieving some of the parking pressure from immediate neighborhoods adjoining Legends Field. For well over 50 years pedestrians and fans have been forced to walk in the street when attending games; enjoy this safe improvement!

The Flathead Boosters and Glacier Boosters would like to thank everyone for their continued support of high school activities and extend sincere appreciation to the following entities for the construction of these sidewalks: Sandon Construction Company, Flathead Electric Co-op’s “Round-up For Safety” Program, APEC Engineering, Morrison-Maierle Engineering, Flathead County, city of Kalispell, Kalispell Public Schools, Flathead Booster Club, Glacier Booster Club, neighbors of Legend Field. —Jana Rae Warnell, president of Flathead Booster Club, and Julie Pisk, president of Glacier Booster Club
