LETTER: Has the U.S. been duped?

| January 17, 2016 11:00 AM

Dupe (noun): “one who is victimized or made to appear foolish.”

Could it be possible that someone in the future will publish a book on how the United States of America was taken in by a clever impostor to the extent that he was actually elected president, in spite of his own admissions of his loyalty to another entity?

Could it be that the average citizen of voting age in the United States is so disconnected from the responsibilities of being a member of a free republic that they will vote blindly for a party rather than an individual of character, integrity and ability to the highest office in our land? This is evidently the case since our voters have twice elected an individual to that office who not only shows complete disdain for our nation, but has the audacity to put it in print in two different collections of his thinking.

The two books on the nation’s book shelves written by our current president, “Dreams from My Father” and “Audacity of Hope,” should be required reading for anyone of voting age.

From “Dreams from My Father,” written by President Obama:

—“I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother’s race” (white).

—“It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses”

From “Audacity of Hope,” also written by President Obama:

—“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

May I suggest to those of you that are skeptical of Mr. Obama’s true feelings toward this country that you read the two volumes referred to above. It makes you wonder what might be in those records from his college years that have been sealed from the public, by a court, at great expense to Mr. Obama.

If indeed there is a future history book written about the 2008 to 2018 decade and how it influenced the nation, the last chapter will probably be directed toward the voters. How did they let this happen to this once vibrant and productive country?

I fear that it will take decades to repair the damage to our country done by this man and his administration.

Voter’s remorse (noun): “distress arising from a sense of guilt.” —R.A. “Bob” Fraser, Kalispell
