LETTER: Hockaday sends thanks for coverage and support

| January 17, 2016 11:00 AM

Too many times we take our day to day for granted, say nothing when expectations are exceeded, or fail to pause long enough to realize how much the efforts of others have contributed to our individual successes. The purpose of this letter is to say thank you, and to provide public recognition to the Daily Inter Lake and to your team for all their efforts to support the communities of the Flathead Valley, the nearly 500 nonprofit organizations, and specifically, the Hockaday Museum of Art.

The Daily Inter Lake has been a huge supporter of the Hockaday Museum of Art for the past 47 years, providing continuing publication of activities at the Hockaday, including exhibit openings, Arts in The Park (48th year in 2016), featured artist exhibitions, and other stories deemed newsworthy. Your inclusion of Hockaday activities in your weekly calendar and events pages is much appreciated. Our success as a nonprofit would never happen without your support. For this, we thank you.

Interestingly, when we survey our 20,000 plus annual visitors, more than half say the “newspaper” was their source of information and motivated them to come to the Hockaday. Our mission statement, “To enhance the cultural life of our community and region, and preserve the artistic legacy of Montana and Glacier National Park,” could not be a reality without your support.

Speaking on behalf of the Hockaday, and I am sure the other nonprofits in the Valley, thanks to the Daily Inter Lake for your role in keeping our residents informed, supporting the arts and education programs, and playing such a key role in everyone’s success. —Harry Wilson, Bigfork, chairman of the board, Hockaday Museum of Art
