BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Columbia Falls girls romp, boys come up short in Frenchtown

FRENCHTOWN — Columbia Falls continues to roll right along, whipping Frenchtown 62-24 in a Northwest A girls basketball matchup on Thursday evening.

Columbia Falls (11-1 overall, 4-0 league) jumped out to a 20-7 lead and headed for the locker room at the half with a 43-14 advantage.

Sydney Hovde was one of three Columbia Falls players in double figures. She tallied 19 points while Kiara Burlage netted 13 and Ellie Johnson 12.

Megan Delaney scored eight points for Frenchtown (6-5, 2-2).

Columbia Falls has a nonconference outing with Stevensville on Saturday in Columbia Falls.

A taller Mt. Baker team from Cranbrook, British Columbia, edged a smaller Stillwater Christian (6-7) crew at Stillwater Christian School in a nonconference matchup.

Mt. Baker had three starters over 6 foot, while Stillwater’s tallest player checked in at 5-7.

Mt. Baker outscored Stillwater 11-6 in the second quarter for a 25-22 halftime lead. The second half was played on even terms.

Serena Koch led Stillwater scorers with 11 points. Rachel Hubick had 15 for Mt. Baker.

Dori Smith had 16 rebounds for Stillwater.

FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown outscored Columbia Falls 30-7 in the third quarter en route to a Northwest A victory. Frenchtown led 28-15 at the half.

Frenchtown (2-9, 2-2) was led by Austin Means and Jacob Price, who shared scoring honors with 17 points each. Andrew King finished with 14.

Nathan Riley had 13 for Columbia Falls (1-11, 0-4).

Columbia Falls hosts Stevensville on Saturday in conference play.
