LAW ROUNDUP: Woman asks for help settling debt

Kalispell Police advised a woman of her options about paying the second part of a bill for a car she bought after seeing an ad on Facebook. The woman said that she paid $400 up front and the second half was due, but she had not had any luck getting in touch with the previous owner. The woman wanted to settle the debt and get the car towed to a mechanic.

An officer took a damage report after a person reported that his or her car had been rear-ended by a school bus at the intersection of West Idaho Street and First Avenue West North. The bus allegedly did not stop after the collision.

A man on East California Street said that he did not want to pursue charges against a person who had allegedly created several fake Facebook pages to contact the man and his wife. The person who created the accounts used them to send the couple threatening messages about breaking into their home or vandalizing their vehicles.

A toddler gave his grandma on Ruddy Duck Drive a scare, but was otherwise unharmed after she found that he had barred himself in the bathroom by closing the door and opening drawers that prevented the door from opening. The youngster was not in distress, but his grandmother was pretty worried until the boy managed to close the drawer and get out of the bathroom before officers arrived.

Officers made sure a teenager was safe in the custody of her mother after her boyfriend kicked her out of the young couple’s home on U.S. 93. The girl was allegedly hit in the face by the boyfriend and locked outside in the cold with a car that would not start. Officers searched for the alleged assailant.

A chainsaw was reported stolen from the back of a truck parked on Kelly Road.


Columbia Falls Police counseled a man who showed up to a residence on Fourth Avenue West, banging on a door, unwanted. The person living at the residence said that her friend was trying to get a restraining order against the man, who was the friend’s husband. The officer took the two women to get a restraining order against the man.

A woman called from Martha Road to report that her boyfriend had thrown her on the ground and shattered her cell phone. Officers tried to locate the man.


Whitefish Police logged a report after a violent offender allegedly broke conditions of an order of protection by texting a woman to see if he could pick up a child.
