LAW ROUNDUP: Woman just wants access to mailbox

Kalispell Police Department took a report from a woman on Sixth Avenue West who was upset after one of her packages was undeliverable because someone had parked in front of her mailbox. She asked that an officer be sent to help give the person a friendly reminder to move along. She did not want the person to be punished, but did want access to her packages.

An officer cited a purple-haired woman for shoplifting from a store on Hutton Ranch Road.

A woman did not show up to the police department to file a formal complaint after she reported that another driver flashed a gun at her and made a crude gesture with his fingers.

A worker called from North Main Street to say that some patrons were doing drug deals “every hour on the hour” in the parking lot. The worker asked for more patrols, but did not give officers specific names of who might be dealing the drugs.  

A man was taken into custody after police were told a man was seen running from a business at the corner of Fifth Avenue West and West Center Street, where an alarm was going off. Officers located a vehicle with blood on the steering wheel and a man’s Nike shoe in a seat. The business’s window was broken.

Mail was reported stolen from a mail box on Sixth Avenue West for a second day in a row.

A business owner on Second Avenue West North first reported that it looked like a would-be burglar had been unsuccessful in doing his business any harm, other than damaging his door. Later, he discovered that the business’s power and telephone cables had been cut, and that his surveillance system was not working at the time of the attempted break-in.

A business owner on West Center Street found that his door had been shattered and wires had been cut going into his business.


A Whitefish Police officer took a report after someone called from Central Avenue to report that he or she had just seen a man vandalize a car. The man allegedly broke the rear windshield wiper, both mirrors, and front windshield wiper of a Hyundai Elantra, before he hammered the top of the vehicle.

An officer made sure a man had calmed down for the night after his room mate called to say that the man had come home in a drunken rage. The man was allegedly trying to punch holes in the wall. The officer found a crack in the wall, and the room mates agreed to take care of the damage civilly.

Officers deployed a Taser to take a man into custody after he allegedly broke out the window of a business on Central Avenue.
