Finberg, Burlage push Columbia Falls past Eureka, 62-26

EUREKA — Cydney Finberg tallied a game-high 17 points and Kiara Burlage added 16 as Class A Columbia Falls rolled by Class B Eureka 62-26 in a nonconference girls basketball matchup Tuesday evening.

Columbia Falls led 36-9 at the intermission.

Peyton Kehr also reached double figures for the Wildkats with 10 points.

Amanda Peterson and Jessica Wilson both scored six poitns for Eureka.

Eureka plays at Stillwater Christian School on Thursday.

BIGFORK — Miranda Campbell had a double-double with 23 points and 13 rebounds for Class B Bigfork, which beat Class A Whitefish for the second time this season in a nonconference matchup.

Katie Thomas turned in a strong performance for Bigfork with eight rebounds, six steals and two points.

Bigfork (10-3) was in charge at the half, leading 29-15.

Allie Schulz led Whitefish with 12 points and Haley Nicholson followed with 11.

Whitefish plays at Frenchtown on Thursday. Bigfork is at Missoula Loyola on Saturday.

POLSON — After a slow start, Polson took charge with a 17-points second quarter en route to a five-point victory over Stevensville in a nonconference matchup.

Stevensville led 5-1 after the first quarter, but Polson went on top 18-11 at halftime.

Nichole Lake led Polson in scoring with nine points. Breanna Clarke added seven.

Mariah Hinson had 10 points for Stevensville.

Polson returns to Northwest A play on Saturday at Frenchtown.

Plains held Stillwater to single digit scoring in each quarter en route to an easy nonconference victory at Stillwater Christian School.

Plains held a 28-11 lead at the half and outscored the hosts 30-12 in the second half.

Kimberly Earhardt and Kassidy Kinzie had 11 points each for Plains.

Alisa Venman netted eight points to pace Stillwater while Serena Koch had seven points and three assists.

Stillwater (6-8) hosts Eureka on Thursday.

HOT SPRINGS — Karissa Williams tallied 14 points, Lexi Ehlers totaled 12 and Priscilla Rajkowski added 11 as Flathead Valley Homeschool whipped Hot Springs on Monday evening in a nonconference contest.

Williams scored half her points at the free-throw line with a 7 for 11 effort. She added two field goals and a trey.

Ehlers made 8 of her 10 free throw attempts.

As a team FVHS (12-4) was 22 for 31 at the charity stripe.

BIGFORK — Jonathan Landon turned a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds while Adam Jordt had a strong overall game with 11 points, seven rebounds and six steals as Bigfork (12-1) whipped Whitefish in a Class B vs. Class A nonconference matchup.

Bigfork led 32-20 at the half and never looked back.

Bigfork swept the season series with the Bulldogs.

Derek Kastella led Whitefish offensively with 16 points.

Whitefish plays at Frenchtown on Thursday. Bigfork is off until a Saturday trip to Missoula to face Loyola.

Stillwater (13-2) outscored Plains 14-3 in the second overtime to pull out the victory at Stillwater Christian School.

Isaac Neumann led Stillwater, and all scorers, with 27 points. Joe Hooker added 10 points.

Cole Benson topped Plains in scoring with 14 points.

“Plains is a well- coached team that patiently waits for an opportunity to get to the rim,” Stillwater coach Dana Hashley said. “Once at the rim, they finished very well.

“We have played with great effort the past few weeks, but tonight we also played together as a team and patiently waited for the better shot. I am hoping this playing smart carries over against Eureka (tonight).”
