Kalispell resident pursues 'idiot' driver

A tan Jeep reportedly drove through the yard of an apartment complex Sunday morning in west Kalispell. The caller pursued the driver while calling Kalispell Police Department to report the license plate number, claiming the Jeep driver was either intoxicated or simply “driving like idiots.” Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

A woman reported a man had just broken into her home, claiming he was tired. Police cited him for trespassing.

A woman acting disoriented after getting a haircut prompted a salon employee to call police. Neither the caller nor the police were able to find the woman after the call.

A north Kalispell business employee called police about a car that kept changing parking spots. The caller explained that the car had left the parking lot by the time of the call, but also asked for an officer to patrol the area.

Someone moved a man’s pickup a few blocks away from its initial parking spot and stole the owner’s wallet, speaker subwoofer, amplifier and cellphone, as well as his girlfriend’s cellphone. The caller reported he had left the pickup keys in the gas cap.

A Kalispell employee called about an intoxicated man who had broken his leg outside the business. The man was able to find his own ride to the hospital.

Around 1 p.m. on Sunday, a man exposed himself to a woman walking through an east Kalispell neighborhood.


A neighbor allegedly stole the key fob from a man who told Whitefish Police Department the neighbor had been setting off his car alarm six or seven times a day. The caller didn’t want police to take any action other than documenting the complaint, but called again later on Sunday once the alarms continued. Officers spoke with the neighbor, who said he hadn’t heard any alarms all day, nor did he have the missing key fob.


After locking her disabled daughter inside her vehicle on Sunday, a woman called Columbia Falls Police Department asking for assistance unlocking the vehicle. Dispatch told the woman the Columbia Falls police department does not unlock vehicles, but the woman was able to contact a local towing company to unlock the door.
