Bette Faye (Fonger) Donathan, 68

| January 28, 2016 6:00 AM

Our beloved Bette Faye (Fonger) Donathan passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016, at home surrounded by loving family and friends.

She was born in Eureka on May 3, 1947, to Donald Eugene Fonger and Faye Ruth Ellis.

Bette is survived by her loving husband, Ben Donathan; daughter, Tammie; stepson, Brett; sister, Laura; grandchildren, Alicia, Christine, Jeremiah and Joshua; niece, Cary Dawn, and nephew Kenneth, and many loving great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bette touched many lives and was loved by all who knew her. She always had a smile and lessons to teach.

She loved ballroom dancing and her art. Every year Bette and Ella (friend and caretaker) would design beautiful gardens where the birdwatching is like no place else. She loved the outdoors and exploring everywhere, from the countryside to the desert.

Though an accident took the use of her legs in 2006 she never let the circumstance drag her down. Bette was a role model and champion to those around her. The knowledge and love she left behind will never be forgotten.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Faye; grandparents, Clark and Myrtle, and sister Susan.
