WRESTLING: Polson grapplers pound Whitefish

WHITEFISH — The Polson wrestlers earned three pins and a tech fall while running away with a 62-12 dual win against Northwestern A foe Whitefish on Thursday night.

The Pirates won six open classes in a quick dual that saw just one match go the distance. Polson 120-pounder Bridger Wenzel and Class A’s third-ranked 145-pounder Parker Adler each earned pins in less than 45 seconds and Cameron Brown, ranked third at 132 pounds, earned a pin in 3:11. Mateo Quinones earned a tech fall in the third period of his match, winning 20-5 at 113 pounds.

Jaben Wenzel topped Whitefish’s James Buckley by a 6-3 decision at 138 pounds in the night’s closest match.

Whitefish earned two pins in the contest. Steven Quimby, ranked fourth at heavyweight, scored a pin in 1:31 and Konrad Zinke earned his in 2:00 to put 12 points up for the Bulldogs.

Both teams will be back on the mats this weekend. The Bulldogs will host the Whitefish Duals on Saturday and Polson will wrestle at Ronan on the same day.
