LAW ROUNDUP: Guests leave scent of drugs behind

A person called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office from Belton Stage Road in West Glacier asking for help locating some possible marijuana in a house. The homeowner rents the house out in the summer and there was a lingering strong smell of the herb in the house, indicating that a large stash might have been left behind. The homeowner was unable to locate the suspected drugs.

A woman on Farm-to-Market Road in Whitefish called to ask what her options were after her daughter gave away all of her birds the last time she left town. The woman was able to retrieve the birds but she was leaving town again and worried that the daughter might get rid of the birds again. A deputy answered her questions.

A deputy served a no-contact order and escorted a man off a Martin City property after he tried to get his belongings from the place where his wife was staying. The man had allegedly upset the woman by saying that the no-contact order was a load of bull excrement and that it was not legal. It was apparently legal enough to get him to leave.


Kalispell Police took a report from a woman who said that a man was calling her “mommy” and doing other things to make her uncomfortable at a location off U.S. 2. The woman thought the man was the same person she had called police on a few days earlier for an incident of indecent exposure. The property’s owner successfully got the man to leave without incident, and the woman was told to call police again if she decided to press charges.

A hotel manager served a guest with an eviction notice and things escalated quickly as the guest allegedly threatened to beat up the manager and blow up her house. The manager’s husband responded with a gun, but ended up taking the gun back to his home. The guest screamed at workers about getting her things from the property before she was told to leave by an officer.


A woman called Whitefish Police with questions about possibly being drugged at a bar in 2012. The woman had friends coming to town and wanted to know if it was safe for them to visit the establishment.


A worker on Ninth Street West called Columbia Falls Police to report that someone had stolen $154 worth of fuel from a business on four different dates in December and January.
