WRESTLING: Flathead up to 4th in Class AA Poll

Despite a dual loss to Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday, the Flathead wrestling team moved up two spots to fourth in the latest Class AA wrestling coaches poll.

The Braves were sixth a week ago, and went 4-1 at last weekend’s Class AA duals in Great Falls before dropping the dual against the second-ranked Spartans. Billings Senior holds down the top spot this week.

Flathead’s Trae Vasquez (120 pounds) and Payton Hume (138) are the top-ranked wrestlers in their respective weight classes. Fellow Braves Logan Wilson (3rd at 182), Hunter Rush (4th, 103), Tucker Nadeau (4th, 160), Payton Boyce (4th, 205) and Matt Gash-Gilder (6th, 170) are also ranked.

Glacier’s Justin Gibson is ranked fourth at 126 pounds.

In Class A, Polson checks in second behind Havre in the latest poll, and Columbia Falls is fifth.

The Pirates’ RJ Pierre is the number one ranked 103-pound grappler in Class A, and Columbia Falls’ Caleb Gravelin is first at 138.

Eureka ranks second in Class B, behind only Colstrip.
