SOFTBALL: Glacier's Ali Williams headlines local all-state selections
Glacier senior pitcher Ali Williams was named to the Western AA all-state softball team for the third straight season, capping a tremendous career on the north side of Kalispell.
Williams, who will be headed to Carroll College in the fall, finished the season with a state-best 347 strikeouts and a 0.65 ERA in the circle, with a .461 batting average and 11 home runs at the plate.
She was the only Kalispell player voted all-state from the West, a list that features three players from conference champion Missoula Big Sky, five from Helena Capital and three from Helena High.
Glacier first baseman Erin McHugh and outfielder Christina DuFour were named all-conference for the state runners up. Flathead catcher Jayden Russell, second baseman Abbie O’Brien and outfielder Kaitlin Torgerson also were named all-conference.
The Bravettes’ Kylee Meredith and Becca Knutson and Glacier’s Alivia Atlee and Anna Schrade were honorable mentions.
Columbia Falls saw three players from its fourth-place state finishing team named all-state in Class A. Wildkats catcher Samantha Collins, pitcher K.J. Schweikert and outfielder Peyton Kehr were first team all-conference and all-state along with Polson’s Kaelyn Smith and Laurel Bitterman. Polson catcher Ashley Benson was first team all-conference but not all-state.
Polson’s Quinn Motichka, Lydia Dupuis and Hannah Potter; Columbia Falls’ Katie Price and Lottie Ellis; and Whitefish’s Jordan Sletten were second team all-conference.
