LAW ROUNDUP: Bear theft reversed with apology

A carved wooden bear with an address on it was stolen from a home on Tamarack Lane — and later returned with a note attached to it that said “Sorry,” according to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

A bald eagle was found dead in the road in Lakeside. It did not appear to have been shot.

A woman supposedly threatened to kill her mother’s horses because of an alleged failure to post bail for an ex-husband.

Suspects were reported breaking into vehicles and newspaper boxes on U.S. 2 East.

A caller complained about a man on a trail bike with a loud muffler driving “fast and reckless” up and down North Many Lakes Drive.

A resident on Church Drive called dispatch to report a missing air conditioner.

Windows were shot out on a vehicle on Bitterroot Drive.

A shirtless man with a mohawk who was asking customers for food or a ride outside a U.S. 2 restaurant was asked to move along.


The Whitefish Police Department received a complaint from a passing motorist about a man choking and kicking his dog.

Vehicles were reported parked in the wrong direction on Spruce Court.

A tool box was stolen out of the back of a pickup truck.


A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department to complain about a woman who allegedly stole an animal from him.
