LETTER: Kalispell council should stay out of bathroom issue
Every once in a while an issue arises that catches my attention and makes me wonder. The latest national issue pertains to the use of the bathroom by transgender individuals.
I never would have dreamed that a problem would arise where the use of a bathroom would become such an issue that the federal government instigates and some state legislators would be debating legislation on who can, or at what stage of life a person who altered their organs can, use a bathroom having a sign designated men or women.
Who would have thought that the usage of the bathroom would become a national issue? Actually, that problem was solved a number of years ago, before the word “transgender” was even invented. It was solved by a bird hunting club. Their sign on the bathroom door read “pointer” or “setter” as appropriate for the ensuing event. The bathroom fixtures pretty much determined the appropriate user.
Life can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. I hope the Kalispell City Council doesn’t get involved in the bathroom usage issue.
